Luis Rabat drops EDM-infused single “Zombie” featuring Blaine Nasser

“I'll always be proud of the team this song has brought together and I can't wait to let people hear this new craft we've made.”

If there’s anything good that 2020 has given us, it’s definitely the songs of young artists from Mindanao. Just a few days ago Luis Rabat, who served everyone a dose of “Happy Pill” with his sophomore single, unveils the EDM-infused single “Zombie” featuring Blaine Nasser of Next Option — the third single from his upcoming album which is a mystery to all of us until now.

“Zombie” is written and produced by Luis himself and Pao Lofranco — Luis’ constant collaborator and probably Davao’s response to the likes of Max Martin and Jack Antonoff from Hollywood, and who had also collaborated with other Davaoeño musicians like Paul Ramirez with his hit single “Bai” — together with Blaine Nasser and KB Dalumpines. For Luis, “Zombie” is unlike any songs he has done before.

Although his previous songs may be different in terms of genre and the approach, one thing is still for certain — we can all dance and sing our hearts out to all of them. And this Diplo slash Zedd inspired track is no exception.

“What I love about the previous tracks is that they come from very different places. This track still lives up to that realization. But compared to them, I'm showing a little bit of a dark side. As light-hearted as the other songs are, there are corners in me that are still waiting to be discovered,” Luis expressed.

He added, “I've always been a fan of the zombie genre since I was a kid, particularly when it comes to Resident Evil. While we were on the verge of producing Happy Pill, I played a lot of Resident Evil 2 Remake. I just thought that making a love song that used the series as a reference would be awesome.”

While we’re at it, we might as well add this song to our Halloween playlist this spooky season. Stream Luis Rabat’s newest single “Zombie” on all streaming platforms now.

You can also stream the official music video of Luis Rabat’s “Zombie” directed by Dino Caballes. Shout out to James del Fierro btw for the amazing, dark cover art for this song.

And of course, don’t forget to #StreamLocal and support your local musicians. This isn’t the perfect time to sleep on them.
