The longest running regional film festival in the country now joins other local film festivals that will push through with its festival run amidst the global pandemic. This time, screening will solely be via virtual or online.

The Mindanao Film Festival has officially announced last July 13, 2020 via their official Facebook page that the 18th edition of the said film festival will be made more accessible to the patrons and viewers this year. Audience can now view and watch the film entries in the comfort of their homes as films can be streamed online simultaneously.

Mr. Lou Raphael Cañedo, president of Mindanao Film and Television Development Foundation, Inc. (MFTDFI) - organizer of Mindanao Film Festival, shared via Philippine Information Agency Region XI (PIA-XI) that he’s hoping for a wider and bigger audience this year now that everyone, regardless of location and with only a stable internet connection as the main source, can watch the films.

Further details have yet to be posted regarding the mechanics of the online screening. Meanwhile, submission of entries is officially ongoing. Deadline of submission will be on October 9, 2020.
